Surf Chateau is a boutique hotel located in Buena Vista, Colorado right on the Arkansas River.
The hotel is part of the new South Main development and it truly looks like something straight out of Europe – with all of the stonework, pointed rooftops and the gas lanterns.
The hotel was composed of 2 main parts. When you enter under the “Surf Chateau” sign, you arrive in a small courtyard which is where 10 of the rooms are located. There is a larger building at the end of the courtyard that is located right on the river. As you can see, there is a beautiful arched walkway that takes you straight to the river trail and to a view of the river. In that building, the rooms all have small porches that look out over the river.
We stayed in one of the rooms in the courtyard. We were in Room #10 – one of the smaller rooms, but just right for the two of us! Even though we didn’t have the large deck that looked out of the river, each room in the courtyard has its’ own marble-top cafe table just outside the door with 2 chairs – the perfect place for enjoying some hot coffee on the cooler mornings!
Our room was nice and bright! There was a comfy queen bed with 2 minimalist wicker side tables and a wooden table at the end of the bed that had the flatscreen TV. The furniture and storage was minimal with the exception of a large closet.
One of my favorite features of the room was a small marble-top counter drink station. There was a small coffee machine with a selection of coffee and teas.
Of course, the best part of the hotel was its’ location. Buena Vista is one of the most beautiful places that I have ever been – look at that sunset!!
