The Taco Project New York
Tarrytown, New York is a small town located about an hour North of Manhattan along the Hudson River.
It’s a charming town with lots of great restaurants. I have written about it before here.
Last spring when I was in Tarrytown, I came across a restaurant that had opened since my last visit called the Taco Project. It is located along the Main Street in town amidst the many restaurant choices. We were attracted to the fun, laid-back vibe to get a delicious, simple, fresh meal.
The decor is simple, yet fun with wood floors, exposed brick walls, and pops of bright paint. They also have lively artwork, posters, textiles, and plants. Seating is a bit sparse with a few tables inside, a few bar tables, and a window bar. There are also a couple tables outside for the warmer months. The service is casual as you order and pay at the counter and then they bring your meal items to you.
They offer a few great starters – like guacamole, ceviche, and salsas. I tried the guacamole with fresh chips – and it was delicious!
For main courses, they feature (as you guessed it) tacos as well as salads, burritos, quesadillas, and burrito bowls. For my meal, I had the Smoked Corn and Field Green Salad.
For drinks, they also had a variety of Jarritos (a Mexican soda brand that comes in fruit flavors) as well as Aguas Frescas (housemade fresh juices). I had my personal favorite – Horchata – and it was delicious.
I didn’t get a chance to try the dessert, but they had churros as well as tres leches cake.
