One of the best parts of NYFW is the fact that so many creative people meet in one place. I had the best time going to all of the shows, showrooms, and events. If you missed the posts, be sure to read about my 1st day, 2nd day, and 3rd day! One of my favorite parts, however, was meeting up with Megan Weaver, a Dallas-based blog photographer. Be sure to check out her website. I shoot all of my blog photos with my husband (and he does a great job!) or my brother when he’s in town, but I had never worked with a professional photographer for bloggers before, so it was fun. Megan shoots mainly bloggers, so she knew how to get just the right shots!
Wearing Milly in Greenwich Village

Embroidered black skirt from Milly. It was a piece that I rented from the Shopstyle Event and I thought it would be perfect to wear for my shoot with Megan. I love how it’s midi length, but has the mini element. Since it was something I picked up while in New York, I had to pair it with some basics that I had packed.

Short-sleeved silk shirt – I have had this shirt for a few seasons and get a ton of wear out of it year-round. This shirt is easy to dress up or dress down and to wear when it’s super hot out (like it was in New York). Plus, it’s easy to layer in the fall and winter by adding a sweater or jacket.
I opted for this faux leather jacket, which has been one my favorite purchases of the season. I love the look of leather, but don’t love where leather comes from, so I love finding faux leather pieces that aren’t plastic-looking. This jacket has the perfect texture and you can’t beat the less than $50 price tag, when it’s something that can be worn season-after-season. I love taking a “rougher”-looking piece and pairing it with something feminine like this skirt.

Neutral Block Heels – These are great for elongating your legs and adding a bit of height when wearing a skirt that hits just below the knees. They’re also a great way to try out the block heel trend, if you’re still on the fence (like I was). I also love the neutral for transitioning into fall. This pair was the sand color, but the taupe color is another great neutral pair.

The Perfect Tote – As I mentioned in a previous post, this tote is one of my all-time favorite bags. It was especially perfect for navigating NYC. I was staying on the Upper East Side and Fashion Week was downtown on the westside, so I spent a lot of time traveling to events, which I didn’t mind. However, it meant that when I went out in the morning, I was out for the day, so I needed a bag that was able to carry all of the essentials. I also had to be able to easily access things like my phone and metro card since I was traveling all over town. This exact tote is sold out at Shopbop, but this is another great choice. This is a great option from Nordstrom.

Bright Tassel Earrings – I’ve mentioned these H&M earrings a few times, but I just loved them. I love color, so the pop of color made the – otherwise neutral outfit – fun! This exact pair hasn’t popped up online, but you should be able to find in stores for under $15! You can shop other H&M earrings here. If you’re in the market for a new pair of statement earrings, be sure to check out last week’s post with a bunch of options.

Funky Sunglasses – No outfit is complete without a great pair of sunglasses. Can you guess where I picked up these ones? I love these round ones – they have a bit of a 70’s vibe and you can’t beat the price tag!

Bold Lipcolor – Lipstick is the perfect way to complete any outfit. When I was in the store, I wasn’t sure what color I was looking for, but once I tried this one, I knew it was the one! Paired with bold earrings and the dark purple tote, bold lipstick is the perfect way to keep a neutral outfit fun.
