If you caught my post about Delray Beach on Monday, you may remember that I listed one of my favorite places as Artist’s Alley.

Artist’s Alley is an area in the Pineapple Grove Arts District neighborhood of Delray Beach, Florida that houses numerous artists’ studios. On the 3rd Thursday of each month, they host an Open Studio Night from 6-9pm. It’s just a couple blocks from Atlantic Avenue and an easy place to check out after dinner.
I wasn’t in town for one of their Open Studio Nights, but happened upon the neighborhood as we were walking around. We came across Jeff Whyman’s Studio. Whyman is a ceramicist, sculptor, and painter, who also sells shells. When we arrived, he was in the process of moving his steel sculptures into a sculpture garden he was creating next to his studio. Unlike some of the artists I have featured (like Jodie & Guy), I didn’t interview Jeff, so I don’t know much about his life or work, but that’s easy to find online. He was, however, fascinating to talk with and very friendly. I would highly suggest checking out his studio if you’re in Delray or watch some videos of him at work (like Fire, Gas, Wood, and Soda). When we met, he was in the midst of big changes and looking to incorporate more artists in his gallery space behind his studio, so I’m looking forward to seeing how that evolves.
