Columbus is full of little hidden gems. Diet Coke® invited me to explore Columbus and share the afternoon with you. I decided to focus on the downtown/near eastside area.
We picked up these new Diet Coke cans at the Giant Eagle in Bexley. Diet Coke still has the same classic taste, but in a new sleek can. There are also four new flavors – Feisty Cherry, Ginger Lime, Twisted Mango, and Zesty Blood Orange.
We started our adventure at this mural on Main St. If you’re driving from Bexley to downtown, it will be on your right side. I pass it every morning on my way to work and love the inspirational message – “They tried to bury us, but they didn’t know we were seeds.” I recently learned that the saying has both Greek and Mexican origins.
The next stop was The Topiary Park and the Columbus Metropolitan Library. If you’re not familiar, they’re located in the Discovery District of Columbus on the East side of downtown. The Park is a topiary garden based on a famous Georges Seurat painting. It really pops in the spring and is a fun place to go for events like movies in the park and live music in the summer.
Neighboring the park is the main location of the Columbus Metropolitan Library. They completed a massive remodel about a year ago and it’s beautiful, bright, and airy. I especially love the outdoor seating area on the back side near the park.
Our next stop was the Columbus College of Art & Design. It’s fun to walk around campus and see the murals and art pieces around campus like the Thrive piece shown below.
Close to CCAD is the Columbus Museum of Art. Also recently remodeled with a new modern wing, the Museum offers plenty of art to see inside and out. They also have free admission on Sundays.
Our final stop on the afternoon adventure was at the Franklin Park Conservatory. Even if you don’t go inside the Conservatory, you can enjoy walking the grounds. I especially love when the tulips pop up in the spring – only a few more weeks!
You can find the the one and only Diet Coke as well as the 4 new flavors at Giant Eagle locations around Columbus as 8-packs or on-the-go-singles, which is the perfect way to find your new favorite. I love all things blood orange, so I liked the Zesty Blood Orange flavor – the taste and coloring of Diet Coke with a hint of the fruity flavor.
If you like to save money, use Ibotta for a great offer for Diet Coke – “Earn $1.25 with the purchase of 1 Diet Coke 8-pack, 12 oz. cans (any variety), along with any brand of avocados (any variety, any size). Both products must be purchased on the same receipt to receive credit for this rebate.”
Have you tried any of the new flavors? Which one was your favorite? Let me know in the comments below.
