If you’re like me and where I live, you may still be experiencing some warm weather. Yes, it’s almost October, but it doesn’t really feel like it outside. Here, in Ohio, we are having hot days with cool nights (which is my favorite!). However, it can be a little bit challenging to dress for, especially if you’re ready to pull out your fall pieces. Well, in today’s post, I’m sharing how I’ve been making my outfits look a bit more like fall, even though it’s still hot outside.
1. Wear Fall Colors (like olive, navy) –
One of the easiest ways to make your wardrobe feel a bit more like fall is to incorporate fall colors like olive. Olive is one of my favorite colors for my wardrobe year-round, but it feels especially appropriate for fall. In today’s post, I’m wearing one of my favorite end-of-summer purchases – this olive skort from Athleta. Yes, skort. I don’t think I’ve had a skort since elementary school days, but this one sold me on the concept. From the outside, it just looks like a regular skirt, but underneath it has fitted spandex. It’s perfect for hot days and for going from the city into the outdoors. I find myself outside a lot during the fall – walking, enjoying the leaves, and hiking and this skort is perfect for that.
2. Wear Seasonally appropriate footwear –
Switch out your favorite sandals for shoes that are my appropriate for fall like clogs or booties. I came across these clogs last fall at Shopbop and have worn them all year. This particular one is currently sold out. I hope it will be back this season, but I’ve linked to some similar ones below. To get the most wear out of them, look for a reasonable heel height and a color that compliments your wardrobe. I love this cognac brown for fall.
3. Pull out your fall/winter purses –
Another way to transition into fall is to move into darker purse colors. Look for a brown leather purse or a black leather purse or even a seasonal color like purple. I prefer to carry around a smaller purse when it’s hot, so something like this or this would be perfect. I just picked up this Gigi New York purse a couple weeks ago at NYFW and have been loving it for going into fall. I also continue to wear my MAB bag that I wore all summer. The color is great for fall. See more of my picks below.
