Renzo’s Cafe & Pizzeria

We have been coming to Delray Beach, Florida for over ten years now and the area has certainly evolved since we first started coming here. It has grown and expanded to include a much livelier downtown, which has its perks. We are, however, very casual on vacation and sometimes we just want some good food without dressing up.
Renzo’s Cafe & Pizzeria was recommended to us a few years ago and we’ve been going every year. We liked the food, but every year the service seemed to get increasingly worse to the point that we weren’t planning on going back, after last year. The service was terrible and the food was just ok. However, in trying to find a place for my brother’s birthday dinner, we couldn’t come up with many options and thought we might just give it one more try. I’m glad we did! This year was an entirely different experience.

We arrived there around 7:30 on a Wednesday evening. It was busy, but not packed, so not too difficult to find a table. We sat out on their patio. It’s small, but covered and has side flaps that come down in the case of bad weather. It was perfect for the warm, breezy evening.
The four of us ordered the Caprese Pizza, the Quattro Formagi Pizza, a stomboli, and a Spinach cazlone. I had the Caprese pizza, which was good. I almost always order this pizza when we go out for Italian because I love the simplicity of it – fresh tomatoes, basil, and mozzarella.

The service was also great this time. We received our menus quickly, the order was taken quickly, and the food arrived at just the right time (not too fast, but we weren’t waiting long either). I would say that’s how the whole dinner service was – prompt and attentive, but we weren’t rushed.
The highlight of dinner, however, had to be the dessert. I almost always order Tiramisu when I go out for Italian food. My measure of a good Italian restaurant is the Tiramisu and Renzo’s did not disappoint – definitely one of the best I’ve had in a while (I didn’t get a photo because it was devoured so quickly!)
All-in-all, we were very glad that we decided to give it another go and will be back next time we’re in the area.
