Fall is a great time to travel.
I love to travel in the fall because most of the tourists are gone, the temperatures are slightly cooler, so you’re not dying of heat (!), but you don’t have to deal with the perils of winter weather.
You may remember that a few months ago I went to the Inn & Spa at Cedar Falls in Hocking Hills. You can read my post here. We had a great time enjoying the food, relaxing, and enjoying the spa that they offer there. We also enjoyed being a bit more active.

There are lots of hiking options around the Hocking Hills area and there are options for all levels and abilities. Whether you want a leisurely hike along a mostly paved trail or you’re looking for something a bit more strenuous – there are options.
While I was visiting, I went with Ellen , the Innskeeper to a view places. She took us to Cedar Falls and Old Man’s Cave. Cedar Falls is a short drive from the Inn (about 5 minutes) and can be also reached on foot. We were short on time, so we opted to drive. At this trail, there was ample parking and it was also an easy walk – part of the trail was even paved. With all the rain, we had had earlier in the summer, we found the falls to actually be flowing with some water. It was definitely a popular spot – with families, couples, and even some elderly people down there enjoying the nature.

On our second morning at the Inn, we visited Old Man’s Cave. We left the Inn early and were the first people on the trail. The walk in to the cave was easy and flat. I believe it’s even wheelchair accessible. We enjoyed the peace and quiet of being the first on the trail and hiked out along the outer edge. They’re quite amazing to see in person – the scale doesn’t really show up in these photos.

These photos were all taken over the summer, but I’m looking forward to spending a fun fall day in Hocking Hills!
