Granville, Ohio
Are you getting the travel itch? Located just under 45 minutes from downtown Columbus is a small, New-England-style town full of charm called Granville (Ohio).Whether you’re visiting Columbus from out-of-town or you live in Columbus, Granville is a very easy trip.
We were feeling like we needed a bit of adventure a couple weekends ago and decided we would give Granville a try. (Remember my blog post a couple weeks ago?) I had been there a couple times, but had never really stopped to observe how charming the town is.
We started with a late lunch at Day Y Noche – a fun, Mexican restaurant located along the main street – East Broadway. I loved the bright decor inside and they also had a small patio out in front of the restaurant. After lunch,we enjoyed walking around the quiet streets and looking at all of the picture-perfect homes. Each home seemed to be prettier than the one before it – with carefully painted details and lush landscaping. After our walk, we stopped for some custard at Whit’s Frozen Custard. Whit’s was definitely a community favorite – the patio was filled with young families and older couples stopping by for their evening treat.
After dessert, we walked some more and followed our ears to a small park. We ended up stumbling upon an event Concerts on the Green on Denison’s Fine Arts Quad. It’s a lovely park area nestled in the town and between the buildings at the base of the hill. We were there quite early and we sat on a bench and watched as the people slowly filled the green with lawn chairs, blankets, and dinner. At each concert, they have a different food truck on the green. We were there for The Motown Sounds of Touch and it was one of those perfect summer nights — when time seemed to slow down a bit and everyone there was just enjoying good food, good music, and good company.
