A few weeks ago, DoorDash reached out to me to try their service in Columbus. We have so many great restaurants in Columbus, so I was excited to order some food and have it delivered! DoorDash is a nationwide food delivery service that is now available in Columbus.

You can order through their app or on your computer. I opted to order on my computer and chose Indian Oven. I chose dinner for my family, so we had Mango Lassis, Fresh Vegetable Pakoras, Naan Bread, Vegetable Curry, and Dal Makhni.
Depending on the restaurant and where you are located, it can take about an hour between the order and delivery. You have the option of ordering at the time or ordering ahead of time. For example, if you know you’d like dinner for tomorrow night, you can go to their site now and place your order for your desired time for the next day. One thing to note is that not all restaurants are available all day. For example, when I ordered from Indian Oven, they only had delivery times between 11:30am-1:30pm, so I ordered for dinner at lunchtime. Each restaurant is different and it probably depends on your location as well.
Ordering was easy with a clean design. With each item, you could decide whether you would like the restaurant to replace at their own discretion, contact you, or cancel the order – in the event that a certain item was unavailable.
Once you place the order, it’s sent to the restaurant where they prepare your food. Once it’s ready, one of DoorDash’s drivers, picks up the food and delivers it to you door. It’s that easy!
There is the option to track each stage of your order online, so you can see whether your food is still at the restaurant or whether your delivery driver has it. DoorDash also sends you text updates along the way to let you know that your food has left the restaurant and also when your delivery driver has reached your place. I really appreciated that text because I knew when to look for my delivery driver and when to open my door. He was also wearing a DoorDash shirt, so there was no confusion. No one likes opening up their door to strangers, so it’s nice that they do as much as they can to keep you informed along the way.
Another thing I really appreciated was the packaging as well the food condition when it arrived. I know that packing up food to go can be a challenge for restaurants, but I was happy to find all of the food was neatly packed and even still warm!
There was a delivery charge, but it was minimal at only $1. There is also an option to tip your driver right on the checkout page or you can tip them in cash when they come to your door.
There was so many great food choices, I had some trouble settling on Indian Oven. A couple places I’m looking forward to trying are BareBurger and UpperCup coffee!! (You may find you have these or other great places available to you depending on your location)
