Where you Can Find the Best Coffee in Columbus

Q: Where can I find the best coffee in Columbus?

I often get asked – what is your favorite coffee shop in Columbus? Honestly, I would not be able to pick just one. There are so many good ones – so I’ve created a list (in no particular order of some of my favorites). I’m also excited to add to it as new places pop up and as I try new ones out.

Fox in the Snow Cafe 1031 N 4th Street Columbus, Ohio 43201

Fox in the Snow Cafe Columbus

Fox in the Snow Cafe – After opening in October 2014, Fox in the Snow Cafe has quickly become a Columbus-favorite. It’s hard to say if it’s a bakery first or a coffee shop first because both are truly phenomenal. I made the mistake of not ordering a pastry until my last visit, and wow(!!!) I was missing out! Those cream filled pastries are delicious. I also think that their decor is perfect with the white-washed walls, large windows filling the space with natural light, and the perfectly placed large green plants. It definitely has a look that begs to be Instagrammed (and for good reason). My favorite thing to order there is the Cortado.

Mission Coffee Co. 11 Price Ave Columbus, Ohio 43201

Mission Coffee Co

Mission Coffee Co – is such a cool place to hang out. Located just off of High St in the Short North, it’s a bit of a hidden destination. If you’re lucky to be there on a warm day, they’ll put up the front garage door to let the warm air in. Mission has a bit of an industrial feel with warm wood tables. It’s always a busy place, so it can sometimes be hard to find a seat, but man-oh-man is the coffee good. My absolute favorite drink there is their cold brew coffee. I’m not sure how to describe it – except to say that it has such a rich flavor. I guess you could say that it has a flavor beyond just the “coffee flavor.” Also, they have a cold brew cart that often makes appearances around the neighborhood and at Columbus Flea. — brilliant!

Stauf’s Coffee 627 S 3rd Street Columbus, Ohio 43206

Staff's Coffee German Village

Stauf’s – is a coffee roaster with shops located around Columbus. There is a Stauf’s in Grandview, which definitely a Grandview staple. It’s always packed with people working. Stauf’s is also related to Cup O Joe, which is located at the Lennox Mall as well as in Clintonville. However, my go-to location is their location in German Village. They remodeled the interior last fall to have a bit more of a sleek look. There are 2 main areas indoors as well as a large patio area. Inside, there is the part of Staufs that you enter from the street where you’ll find the coffee counter as well as small shop area with coffee supplies. After you get your drink, if you travel down the long hallway, you’ll find another large room for working. It has great natural light, tons of tables, and some nice background music. When you go to Stauf’s be sure to order an iced dirty chai – (chai tea + espresso) – it’s the best in town!

The Roosevelt Coffeehouse 300 E Long St Columbus, OH 43215The Roosevelt Coffeehouse

The Roosevelt Coffee House – is also fairly new to the Columbus coffee scene. However, they have made an impact in the relatively short time that they have been open. The great thing about Roosevelt is that they believe in “Coffee for Good.” They’re actually part of a larger non-profit organization called the Redeeming Injustice. They work to help to get rid of unclean water, hunger, and human trafficking. They work with Stumptown Coffee Roasters in Portland and One Line here in Columbus. They have worked to create a great local atmosphere within the shop and they also have Sunday pop-ups where local artists can set-up and sell their work. My favorite drink there is the dirty chai (hot or iced).

One Line Coffee 745 N High Street Columbus, Ohio

One Line Coffee

One Line Coffee – is a local roaster (as I mentioned above) as well as a local shop. They’re located in the heart of the Short North on High Street. I love the dark walls and the overall vibe of the place. It’s a great place to meet with a friend for an afternoon coffee or to bring in your laptop to get some work finished. I love how they have a bar height table along the front window (perfect for people watching in the Short North). They have a nice choice of coffee drinks as well as tea choices.

Red Velvet Cafe – Columbus 246 S 4th Street Columbus, Ohio 43215

Red Velvet Cafe

Red Velvet Cafe – is a great new place that popped up on S. 4th Street. I love their wide selection of international-style coffees – like the Cortado, Turkish Coffee, or Vietnamese Coffee (among others).  They also have all of traditional coffee drinks as well as tea. They even have bubble tea! In addition to their drink menu, they also have cupcakes. I had a dulce de leche cupcake and it was perfect — not overwhelmingly sweet, perfectly iced, and moist.
