Arch City Tavern + a night in the Short North

A couple weeks ago I was invited to check out Arch City Tavern in the Short North neighborhood in Columbus, Ohio. The Short North is full of great places to eat and I haven’t been everywhere yet, so I was excited to give Arch City a try.Arch City Tavern in Columbus, Ohio is a great choice when dining in the Short North. Arch City is located along High Street on the corner of Prescott. It’s right in the heart of it all, so there is no shortage of people-watching and action along the street. We were seated at one of the tables along the front window. Being a warm summer night, they had the front windows opened, so we were eating right on the street.

Arch City Tavern is named after Columbus’ nickname of being the arch city, which comes from the wooden arches that lit up the area at the turn of the 20th century. Arch City Tavern prides themselves on having great food, crafted beer, fine wines, and local spirits.

As a vegetarian, non-drinker, I was a little concerned about what I would eat at a tavern, but I found plenty of good, fresh options. We started with something from the Shareables section of the menu – the spring rolls. They were Southwestern style and a great size to share as an appetizer. They were just the right amount of spice and came with a yummy dipping sauce.

For our entrees, I had the margherita pizza and my brother had the Arch City Burger. The margherita pizza was delicious and my brother enjoyed his burger with the bacon, avocado, and chili aioli.

We found Arch City Tavern to be a lively and fun spot. Service was quick, but not rushed and a great place to enjoy a summer evening in the Short North.
